Tips for a good sleep routine

We talk a lot about morning routines, but most of us could probably give our evenings a little more attention, too.

How we wind down at the end of the day can have a huge on our sleep, and how we feel the next day.

It doesn’t need to be complicated. Sometimes it’s as simple as putting your phone away and resisting the urge to squeeze one more thing into the day.

You don’t need to get it perfect. Just start by finding a few small things that help you switch off.

Prioritise sleep. Your evening routine starts with giving yourself enough time for proper rest. Try to protect your bedtime rather than squeezing “just one more thing” into your day.

Create a switch-off point. You don't have to be available all evening. Put your phone down. Stop checking emails. Give your brain a chance to move away from the demands of the day.

Give your mind time to compress. Going straight from a busy day to bed doesn't always give your mind a chance to catch up. Read. Take a bath. Listen to music. Go for a gentle walk. Find something that helps you transition from doing to resting.

Think about your evening habits. What you eat, drink and do in the hours before bed can all influence how you sleep and feel the next day. You don't need perfection - just awareness of what works for your body.

Create a little space. Your evening doesn't need to be another thing on your to-do list. You don't need an elaborate wellness routine. Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is simply slow down.
